The Aspirations

The Aspirations

How far you would want your child to go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. For, and we are responsible to them because we are the only witnesses they have.

As John Adam’s had put in, “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. My sons ought to study mathematics and philosophy, geography, natural history, naval architecture, navigation, commerce and agriculture in order to give their children a right to study painting, poetry, music, architecture, statuary, tapestry, and porcelain.”

We are the INSPIRATION to give them ASPIRATIONS.

Elephant at Work

Elephants historically play a central role in Indian life. One really can not imagine India without elephants. Assam one of the east Indian states where elephants breed in captivity in the national park. In Kaziranga National park, there are quite a number of elephants, they are used for tourist rides to the part early in the morning where rhinocerous can be seen in wild. They are then taken out in the nearby forest and come later in the evening for another round for the tourist.

I stayed in Sivasagar, Assam some 100 kilometer from Kaziranga park and have been there many a number of times. The Elephant Festival of Assam is organised every year at Kaziranga National Park in Assam, jointly by the Forest Department and Tourism Department, Govt. of Assam generally in middle of February. There are various activities by domestic elephants and various cultural programmes performed by the locales to make the event more & more entertaining.

Though it has been estimated that only 200 elephants are in captivity in national parks but there are more than 2000 elephant elephants in public captivity which tend to do many sort of work, generally felling trees and carrying the logs. This oil painting is my dedication to those working elephants. In India there are some of strictest elephant legislation in Asia which have to be provided adequate protection for the countries 3600 domesticated elephants.

Many of the elephants suffer intolerable conditions. Even though there is a rich culture of domesticated elephants many animals are not receiving the welfare they are entitled to under the law and as a result suffer a lot. Help saving these animals for our generation.

Under the bridge

"Under the Bridge" is a song by the American alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, released on March 13, 1992 as the second single from the group's fifth studio album Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Vocalist Anthony Kiedis wrote the lyrics to express a feeling of loneliness and despondency and to reflect on narcotics and their impact on his life. Kiedis initially did not feel "Under the Bridge" would fit into the Chili Peppers' repertoire and was reluctant to show it to his band mates until producer Rick Rubin implored him to do so. The rest of the band was receptive to the lyrics and wrote the music. The song became a critical and commercial success, peaking at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and later certified platinum by the RIAA.

The Eternal Light

The Eternal Light

In the early morning, I enjoy watching the sun rise slowly over the mountains. It gradually changes the dark scenery outside to gray and then blue. I’ve been a morning person, and most of my days in Chennai start at 0430 in the morning that is when the atmosphere starts filling up with energy and taking this energy I dream and realize a dream on the canvas. This painting I started to paint during my visit to Yercaud, a hill station in Tamilnadu. We were there with my childrens during a perfect rainy season and the morning light behind a pine tree gave the perfect start for the eternal light that fills our life every morning which we never realize.

This reminds me excerpts of poem "Willows" by Darryn John Murphy.

Early morning sunrise cascades cross the meadow.

The sweet smell of the wild flowers.

As they glisten in the morning light.

The breeze moves in silence as the mist begins to rise.

The beauty of natures slender right before my eyes.

Tall storks of grass in the meadow sway gently in the breeze.

All along the valley the rustling of the trees.

Clouds drift by so slowly cross the great divide.

The willow waits in silence upon the grassy plains.

For the first drops of natures nectar.

The coming of the rains.

Are we blind to nature's beauty?

Does the world pass us by?

If we walk through the meadow.

Would we contemplate the simple things in life?

Or are we lost to the gift of nature's beauty

Because of city life

Come let us take some time from our city life and enjoy the gift of nature's beauty even for a cost.

My First Painting - The Lonely Village

India has been advancing with time and technology. The India which used to reside in villages have seen a lot of changes with modernisation. In search of easy earning people from villages have migrated to nearby cities and today quite a few villages have become a lonely place to live. The villages have only the elderly people left behind to guard their land and their young ones visit once during their summer season to chill off. This painting was done in mix media with clay to give a 3D embossed and painted with oil to highlight the apathy.

This painting has adored my wall for last 6 years reminding me to keep in touch with the forgotten village and is not for sale.

I completed my Bachelors Degree in Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Science from M. S. University of Baroda. My passion of computer led me to take up quite a few courses and later took up academics and taught in school in Baroda and then in Navi Mumbai. I have travelled to almost every nook and corner of India from west to the beautiful seven sister states of east, north to the culture rich traditional southern states and have learnt from the nature and environment that you can relish in incredible INDIA.

I came to Chennai in 2003 and again gave my career a new start by taking a Diploma Course in Web Designing and Print Media from Arena Multimedia, instead of working under some one I decided to get on to my own so I can be with my childrens when it really matters. I became a freelance web designer and completed many projects. Art and painting had always facinated me and was part of my hobby, then one fine day I dreamed of converting it to my career aided with computer designing and printing. So I took up formal classes on oil painting and shifted my focus to oil paintings.

I decided to take up contemporary abstract art since I was always attached to nature and surrounding of incredible India. I like exploring the unusual aspects of the human nature using a surreal twist. Most of my abstract oil paintings on canvas represents a social responsibility and inclination to environment with a touch of feminism as a part of me.
